Hi:
about a month ago I have notice a kinda large lump on the bottom of my mouth. it is kinda oval shaped and is hard when I touch it with my finger but feels a little squishy when I touch it with my tounge. It does not hurt at all. I have noticed lately that I hmmm drool (iguess thats the word) more at night. I also wake in the middle of the night sweating even with the air conditioner on. and just recently I sometimes get shooting pain in my ear. I went to my dentist.. he sent me to oral surgeon. Oral sureon took an xray he said he was looking for stones ( I have never heard of stones in the mouth) he found none. he said he was not sure what it was. but it wasnt in the gland. He told me to come back in 2 weeks to see if there is any changes to the lump and if it is not smaller or gone he will send me to another doc (I think and ENT) after reading some of the messages on this board.. I got a little nervous,,, should I be worried? should I wait the 2 weeks or should I go to see someone else? (like my regular doctor) any advise would be greatly appreciated. (ecspecially some encouraging words) Thanks. |

Welcome Cadu, well you are on the right track here, at least you have doctors that are looking into this entity in your mouth. I would have though a ENT would have been your best route to take. If you don't have a appt. maybe should get one. Better to than not to. It may be nothing and then again well we will wait on that one. In the meantime we will pray that this is nothing to be concerned with. The less that have to go thru all this the better, trust me. Please come back on and let us know how you are doing tho, please, Best of life to you...Always Vicki

Like Vicki I would urge you to keep on top of this. It may well be nothing, but if it is a problem then early attention and speed will help in the long term.
I was waking up with a dribble from the corner of my mouth over a period of some nine months before diagnosis. Whilst I have no medical evidence it was connected I believe it was. The drool or dribble mostly stopped after I had surgery and vanished after I started radiotherapy. Others I have been in contact with also have had a dribble. Mine was just a drop or two and always on the same side. Whatever it is, early attention will be the best advice any of us can give. Please don't get too alarmed. You are seeing to it and there is an element of watchful waiting involved which is possibly why your surgeon said wait 2 weeks. Good luck |

Thank you Vicki and Pauline for your fast reply. after reading your posts and talking to my hubby and sister I decided that i am going to call an ENT today and make an appointment. if my Oral sureon is going to send me there anyway, why wait the 2 weeks worrying.. Thanks again for your time and compasion.

I am a little frustrated.. I went to the ENT today. He could not feel the lump... I could not beleive it.. I feel it, my dentist feels it, my oral surgeon feels it. so he advised me to get a CAT Scan. I asked him if it could be anything bad and he asured me that my mouth looks healthy and that it is not """c""". So I am releived I am just a little puzzled why he did not feel anything. The receptionist says she must get an ok with my Insurance company for the CAT Scan (never had to do that before, they cover everything) and she will get back to me sometime next week. So I """think""" I got a clean bill of health. I want to thank you 2 ladies for your input and advise. I think you gals are AWESOME.. beautiful, strong caring women. Bless you both

YAHOO Cadu!!!!!!!!!!! That is great!!!!I am soooooooooooooo HAPPY. As for getting the cat scan pre-authorized is totally normal... My insurance pays for everything as well. But I still have to have anything over 300.00 pre-autorized.... So PLEASE do not worry about that..Have the cat scan, you will be 100% sure. no what if's. could it be's. It will be a done deal. I wish you all the love and life you can handle and ever want,,live it all for us...Always Vicki Lynn
