necrotic abscess in the iawbone

Due to raiotherapy for oral and breast cancer I have necrotic abscess to jawbone. I am in constant pain and most of my teeth are now just roots also causing pain. No one will touch them for fear of breaking my jaw. I have no idea what to do. I have so much pain as I refuse to take painkillers after what I went through with cancer treatment. I feel like I look like a freak but that is the least of my worries. I have fought a long and frightening fight but to end up like this is not cricket. Is there anyone out ther who can help me?

Hello Chrissie
So sorry to hear you're having such a rotten time of it. Unfortunately, since I have only been a carer, I can't do more than offer my support and best wishes although I'm sure there will be someone along who has had similar experiences, to help with some advice.
I wish I could be of some help.
You will see I come from South Australia, however I'm doing the rounds of friends and rellies in Vic and am in Numurkah right now.
You will find wonderful support on this forum Chrissie, so post away. I'm sure it will give you some comfort to find kindred spirits.
Cheers
Deborah

Hi Chrissie,

Dr. J should be along shortly - he's a busy guy. Am sure he'll be able to advise you. In the meantime, we'll be thinking of you.

Hello Chrissie

Please ask to see your maxillofacial surgeon. The bone infection needs to be managed with antibiotics, anagesics, possibly hyperbaric oxygen therapy or localised surgery. Please speak to the surgeon who should be managing it.
