I came to the forum some months ago with a question regarding recurrent mouth ulcers. Dr Joshi kindly gave his opinion and suggested the possibility that it was geographic tongue. I visited my GP and he confirmed that it was indeed geographic tongue. He performed some blood tests which turned out fine and said that the geographic tongue was benign and that I should just ignore it.
Months on and aside from a few small periods the geographic tongue is still more or less present all the time. My question is, can chronic geographic tongue lead to oral cancers and if so is there anything I should be doing other than my usual extensive oral hygeine routine to try and stem the condition? |

Hello John
No, geographic tongue is not related to mouth cancer. But you can never rule out a coincidence. So always be vigilant (like everyone should be) but not worry about the geographic tongue.
