I had a pointed tiny lump on the roof of my mouth for about 6 months. It was painless and didnt get any bigger. Few days ago I brushed it off. Now it's gone. But I am still very worried that it might be something cancerous. Here are a few questions:
(1) Someone said if that tiny lump was cancerous, I wouldn't have been able to brush it off. Is it right? (2) I heard of something called 'Brush biopsy'. I have approached a few dentists and oral surgeons but none of them perform that kind of biopsy. I would like to know how I can find a dentist or oral surgeon who will do that. I am in bay area, California. (3) Is the brush biopsy reliable? Thanks for your help. |

Hello windchase1
I would think that if your tiny lump was cancerous, you wouldn't have been able to brush it off The Brush Biopsy appears reliable. The Eastman Dental Institute's FAQs make the case for it . The Oral CDx website explains the procedure with pictures. You can also see the Oral CDX Brush Biopsy in action on NBC Channel 4 News You could try your local telephone directory to find a dentist who does the brush biopsy Best wishes Vinod :coffee: Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
