Hi Everyone

I have just gone through an ectopic pregnancy, and am now on methotrexate. As well as having to cope with all of this, my husband of 1 year (42yrs of age) has told me he has a lump on the left hand side behind his front teeth - just between the gums and the floor of his mouth. It is very hard and round (painless)and about the size of a pea/small mini broadbean. He thinks its only been there for 2 months, but also he's not sure that it hasnt been there all his life. Also you cannot move it around, and its pretty rock hard. My emotions are pretty fraught and so I am terrified its cancer!! He will be going to the dentist/doctor, but can anyone ease my nerves in the meantime - like how likely is it to be cancer and what is the scope of early detection - ie if its been there for 2 months is this """early""" and what are his chances. I really am tearing my hair out - to top it off I have the same thing on the right side of my mouth, but I shall get it looked at. Please can someone give some advise re my husband.

Many thanks Confused

Hi Samantha10

Sorry you having a rough time. The firm hard pea sized swelling that been there for two months (and maybe all his life!) is probably a fibrous epulis or bony exostoses. Your description points to that. It is quite a common fear - see the Topic: scared of lump in mouth.

If its been there two months, its earlier than most stories that I have read.

So that's two bits of reassurance! Have a good weekend Smiler .
He needs to get it seen by his dentist though!

Best wishes
