Pain and lump after Apicectomy

Hi

10 years ago I discovered a lump along my gum line/ roof of mouth and it was diagnosed as a cyst. They then started to drain it at the hospital which relieved the pain and the swelling went down........10 years later im back in pain and have undergone a apicectomy.

This was 6 months ago now and im still in pain, xray shows cyst is still there! They are now debating whether to remove the tooth but in the meantime a really small lump has come up in the roof of my mouth which is sore. Both my gp, hospital and dentist have looked at it and hospital say they are 100% its not cancer but im still worried! What is the lump?????

Michmoo, Don't wait too long on this...get your GP to send you to a specialist....they are the ones that need to be looking at this...My husband just had surgery and is going to be going through cemo/rad...I know your scared but be persistent and push for more tests!!!Linash

Hello michmoo

The lump could be related to the previous infection or not be. It is probably not a cancer but unless anyone really can make a clinical diagnosis, the only way to know would be to biopsy it and make a histological diagnosis. I suggest you see your doctor or dentist and get a referral to the local oral & maxillofacial unit for a proper diagnosis. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Hi

Im already under the max fax doctors at hospital, they looked at the lump when i went a few days ago. its not really even a lump - more a swelling along a "ridge" which is at the back of where the cyst was/ is. When i had the apicectomy they done a biopsy and that was all clear so thought it was ok?

im going back in 2 weeks to see how the pain is going but the last resort will be to take the tooth out.....a front one at that! Im only 29!

do you think i should push for a scan?
