Bump on roof of mouth?
 Login/Join
Posted
Hey guys,

Recently I have noticed a sort of bump on the right side of the roof of my mouth. There is no pain at all. I am a smoker, but only for the past year.

I did some research, and it would appear that the only answer is that it's a tumor. This idea scares the living daylights out of me, as I am just about to graduate highschool and go to college.

I noticed the same thing on the top of the roof of my mouth a couple months ago and stopped smoking for a while and it went away. Now that I have this new growth, it is more to the right side, and it is slightly larger. so either it moved or the two are unrelated.

In any case, I would really appreciate some input from anybody. This is really starting to freak me out.

Hello saunders

It is not possible to make a diagnosis about your bump over the Internet. Neither can you make a diagnosis, as a layperson, by just reading over the Internet! Please see your doctor or dentist about it. It is more than likely to not be a tumour but you need to get a professional opinion which may or may not require further investigations.

An international study has concluded that smoking and alcohol each independently increase risk of developing head and neck cancer. This study appeared in the May 16, 2007 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Among never drinkers, smoking was linked with an increased risk of head and neck cancer. Risk of head and neck cancer increased with the frequency and duration of smoking. Smoking was estimated to account for roughly 24% of cases of head and neck cancer that occur among nondrinkers

Do try and stop smoking.

Best wishes
