Ill fitting dentures

Following intensive radiotherapy I have lost all of my lower teeth. The rootes cannot be removed, leaving the surface of the gums uneven. Also I am unable to have any dental implants. Consequently, my dentures tend to move when I chew (even though I use an adhesive). This situation has resulted in my gums becoming very sore.

Has anyone had a similar experience and found a solution or know of something that might ease the gum soreness?

See your dentist or local specialist to see if you can be made more comfortable through (1)removing any sharp or rough edges of the remaining roots, (2)relieving the denture fitting surface over the sore area.
Meanwhile, avoid clenching on the denture, it will cause it to settle deeper into the supporting tissue and make it sore! To reduce movement of the denture, try chewing on both sides at the same time to improve stabilty by reducing 'tipping' forces.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes
