For about two weeks i've been experiencing a phobia thats become a huge anxiety about oral cancer. Its gone away after i've had some sleep, I expect it was just a random anxiety over stress from somthing else and little sleep. Just today I noticed a small bump almost at the point where your lips split when you open your mouth, but a bit lower on the inside of my lip. Its small, pinkish (kinda looks normal I guess)should I be worried about this? I'm 19 drank for about a year on weekends when I was 17, quit that for about a year, and don't smoke tobacco. What could the bump actually be? (i think I ahve a little cut near the bump) d

Its non-painful and not a sore, as well. d

I've went to the doctors twice now, there are hard lumps on my neck, and I was concerned about one of the normal bumps in my mouth being mishaped. He told me it was normal and that it was definatly my glands swelling due to infection which could be caused from anything even dandruff, the swelling on one of the bumps in my mouth was due to normal causes which I expected. I suppose if a doctor looked in my mouth twice now, and checked my swollen glands that theres nothing I should be worrying about. Back before the anxiety left it felt like I was running around in a thunderstorm afraid to get hit by lightning, really irrational like. d

Actually there are two or three little bumps and one starting on the other side on the inside of my lip. I've read that things like stress, irritated pores, even reverse pimple things could cause this, Was going to go back to the doctor about this but its only come on recently and another is already developing, I suspect i should wait the 14 days before going back? *also felt like I was getting a cold sore, could it be related to that?* Seems pretty normal so far, but i'm wondering if theres a cause for concern? d

Actually its one bump on the inside of my lip where your lip splits, the area on my face looks very slightly swollen. I broke half a tooth a long time back, it got decayed and eventually the gum where that tooth should be is now a ball of flesh, the doctor told me it was infection and perscribed me somthing I could take if I wanted and suggested that I get the tooth pulled because the break is pretty deep. Basically should I be worried about the little bump or the ball of flesh, or would a general practioner doctor know enough to say with certainty that it was infection? Everyone thinks i'm being a bit anxious and paranoid, I probably am. d

HI, I WOULD GO TO SEE THE ENT FOR THE BUMP AND THE DENTIST FOR THE TOOTH. I CAN RELATE TO BEING ANXIOUS AND PARANOID...I ALWAYS TELL EVERYONE THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN PREPARED AND PARANOIA AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO CROSS THAT LINE! JO

whats an ent? mouth/throat doctor? where i live I might have to drive an hour and a half to see one and i'm not sure if the transportation is open to me? Would a general practioner not be a safe enough choice? or a dentist? d
|
HI, AN ENT IS AN EAR, NOSE AND THROAT DOCTOR...I DONT KNOW IF I WOULD TRUST A GP...THEY ARE KNOWN TO MISDIAGNOSE SKIN LESIONS PRETTY FREQUENTLY...I WOULD ASSUME A SPECIALIST WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO... LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES! JO

Well the problem there is simply that I must go through my GP to get to an ENT doctor and for a small little bump that hasn't been there for a full week I would be diagnosed as an anxiety patient. What about a dentist? I need to see one of those soon, they do x-rays and such, would seeing one of those be an acceptable method? I mean I'm going to see the GP and the dentist pretty soon, surely one of them would see a problem if there was one? d

HI, I AM THINKING THE DENTIST WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE EVERYTHING (AT LEAST BE ABLE TO REFER YOU IF HE THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT NEEDED TO BE LOOKED AT) THAT IS NOT AT THE BACK OF THE THROAT...WHEN I FOUND MY PAPILLOMA I CALLED MY ORAL SURGEON/DENTIST AND HE REFERRED ME TO THE ENT BECAUSE HIS EXPERTISE STOPPED AT THE WISDOM AREA...UVUAL, TONSILS AND SUCH ARE AN ENT'S AREA... I WOULD GO WITH WHOEVER I COULD GET IN WITH FIRST...I THINK THE DENTIST SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT AS IT IS IN THE FRONT OF THE MOUTH... JO
