Hello jCDSK. Well, as a non-specialist in most things but saliva, an d even then just as a fellow sufferer, I don't know if it is throat cancer or not. You'll have to go to doctor for that.
Saliva can be helped I find by lots of gargling in salt water; by inhaling before you go to bed; and also, although it'#s a real pain, if like me you have lots of dairy products, try avoiding them last thing at night. Try a flavoured soya drink for example. Heat it up and mix a little grated chocolate into it, or some coffee granules, or a little tot of whisky or brandy. Try not to keep spitting but have a really good cough up and then try to forget about it.
Remember it is better to have too much saliva than too little. That's my opinion anyway. I( also continue to benefit from Mucodyne which I mentioned recently. It seems to thin out the saliva.
Hope this is of some help. Mind over matter! Ishbel

Hi Jcdsk sorry to hear about your swallowing problems. The only way you will find out what it is is by seeing your doctor. It's no good worrying yourself if it's nothing so make the appointment. I hope it's noting serious but if so we are here to help with advice. Let us know how you get on and once again GOOD LUCK
Maurice

Hi Jcdsk. The last thing you should do is just forget about it and hope it goes away. If it is the big """C""" then forgeting about it is not an option :bomb: . What have you got to lose go and get it seen to if caught soon enough it may well be cured. I know everone on here wil tell you the same thing. If you read some of the stories you will see that smoking and drinking are not the only reason to get this form of cancer. Maybe other people will be ablwe to put it better than I can but please go and get checked out, if only for family and friends Razzer .
Cheers Maurice

Hi jcdsk

In its very early stages, mouth cancers can be almost invisible making it easy to ignore. You can improve your chances of survival if the cancer is detected early and rapidly treated. Throat cancers can sometimes present as:
A feeling that something is caught in the throat
A chronic sore throat or hoarse voice that does not heal
Difficulty chewing or swallowing

My advice is to visit your doctor at once as you are noticing an abnormal problem. It may just be a muscle spasm or some other thing but you need to have it checked out (by an ENT specialist). Early detection is the key factor in treatment success of cancer! So GO, GET SEEN. Let us know how it turns out.

Best wishes
