Hi Chpmnk

Online diagnosis is pretty much impossible, and from the info you provided doesn't necessarily mean it's cancer. Some doctors don't tell patients everything out of fear of scaring them (and partly out of a fear of appearing less than omniscient and omnipotent)--your doctor could be like that. The first practitioner I saw told me "I don't think it's cancer" and that only served to confirm the opposite.

Please let us know how things turn out.

Julia

hi Julia,
thanks for your reply, i am going to do a further check up on tuesday 15/09, in the eastman dental hospital in london. will let u know how it is going, but i am really nervous and scare and worried, because i find out the area of the "object" in my mouth is effected by the temperature, i cant take any hot or cold drinks, otherwise it will be a killing pain, but not long, just for a while, even if the outside temperature changed too fast to cold plus windy, it will turn up the pain aswell.
but i am very pleased that the UCL(hospital) could reply me in this short time, because i find out that waiting time is a real emotion torture for me, it could make me depression, it does, i had a lot of silly thinking at that time, especially when i find out nobody i can talk to, because i dont want my friends or family worried it, i have to pretend nothing happen to me, it is really hard, and make me fussy, i knew it. fortunately it is just 2 more days to wait, i will know what it is soon, very soon. hopefully i will get a good news to u.

Hi chpmnk

I am very interested in your posting and await your diagnosis.

Last year I had tongue cancer, usual removal of part of the tongue, flap (taken from right thigh) and neck dissection. I also had RT.

The pain you are experiencing sounds very similar to what I also have to put up with. You said you can't take any hot or cold drinks. I have a problem when I change the temperature of food or drink in my mouth from hot to cold, or even warm. I end up with chronic pain. And it's the same when the weather changes. If the cold wind catches my face then once again it's agony. It's just like massive toothache but worse. The only way it goes away is to have a Cuprofen and try and sleep.

I must admit I have not had an ex-ray or anything like it since my op last year but I think I may ask my dentist to perhaps do this next time I go to him.

I know my left hand side has been through hell with the op and especially the RT and am not sure whether the pain is something to do with that.

I hope its nothing serious for you. Please keep us posted.

Sue

Hi Chpmnk

Please take someone with you on the 15th.

I read once that joy shared is joy doubled and problems shared are problems halved. Your friends and family know that there's something wrong, even if you haven't told them. You're doing things differently and those around you notice--whether it's what and how you eat, how much you talk. Trust me, they're just as worried as you are, and you really do need a support system now.

I'm hoping for the best for you.

Julia
