I got my holiday insurance through the company that does my car insurance, Enquiries@footmanjames.co.uk, I had the policy before having cancer and there was no diffrence in the price.

The insurance is done through a company called Fortis Insurance Limited, I havn't got an email address for them though, but I am sure footman James will be able to help you.

I received this letter from Graham How about his problem with getting travel insurance and hope it is helpful to those seeking it. Let me know if you have come across any other companies that have been helpful.

Dear Sir,

I’m cured… but am I covered?

In March 2004 I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma affecting my tonsil and neck. After invasive surgery and a course of radiotherapy, I am now what they officially term ‘in remission’.
Except, that is, when it comes to holiday insurance.

What I didn’t realise, until my insurance broker informed me, was that because of my recent illness, with my annual family travel policy it wasn’t just me who wouldn’t be covered, but everyone in my travelling party. Shortly before a holiday that I really needed, this was not good news.

Fortunately, the broker, Ian Mantel of Manor Insurance, sorted everything out for me and helped me re-arrange full cover at no additional premium. Even for my skiing trip later in the year! But how many people who have, or have had, a critical illness, know the affect on their travel insurance? Luckily for me, Manor Insurance specialise in travel policies for people who have survived critical illnesses and ‘those of a certain age’. They are friendly, very helpful, give good advice and the nice thing is you don’t speak to a call centre, but someone who is knowledgeable, and appreciates and understands your situation. They do ask quite a few medical questions but that is only so that they can ensure you have the right policy at the best possible price.

They have a freephone number (0800 027 6171) or you can buy a policy online on the Internet at www.travelinsured.co.uk.

I highly recommend them.

Yours faithfully,

Graham How

I recently purchased my travel insurance from travelinsured. I did it online and it was very easy. I got cover for 1 trip to America in October and I paid £220.00 which, I have been told, (as I have never had to buy travel insurance before), for the amount of cover that I got, was very reasonable.

Sue - where will you be in the US? If you're going to California maybe we can meet up and you can tell me how things are going in KL. I keep getting invited to Christmas parties there and I always say that if they'd pay for the airfare, I'll be glad to come. I keep up with my former coworkers on Facebook and a few have had holidays here and we were able to get together.

I live in Northern California, about 1-1/2 hours from San Francisco, but I could meet you anywhere.

Take care,

Mimi

PS: If you bring me a local newspaper and a Hello magazine, I'll be glad to escort you around!
