Hi Doctor,
i have been suffering from a small lump on the hard palate/palatine raphe area.it has a very small opening just being central incisors and a white discharge comes out of it every 7th or 8th day. it has no pain and is flat in the morning and starts swelling as the day progresses. with each day the swelling keeps on increasing till the discharge oozes out of a small hole behind the central incisors on 7th/8th day. i am planning to do 'pus culture' of the discharge and will post the results. i have visited my dentist and ENT specialist who have opined that there is nothing wrong with my teeth but its a problem with my salivary glands. i have taken ayurvedic medicine also but to no avail. ENT specialist has recommended surgical removal of the salivary gland. Is it the only way out? i am very worried kindly advice what can this be?
Regards
SP

Hello SP

You might wish to consult your local oral & maxillofacial surgeon about it. It might be discharging incisive canal cyst. This specialist should be able to advise on appropriate treatment.

Let us know what the diagnosis turns out to be.

Best wishes

dear Doctor,
thankyou very much for the information. i will visit my orthodontist as advised but preliminary check on internet suggest that it probably is incisive canal cyst as the location of the inflammation is right at the place.
is there any small chance of it being malignant( size of this thing has remained same for last 8 months). i am also getting the puss culture of the discharge done soon and will request your advise once i have the results. One of the doctors here suggested that it could be Epulis (???) . i am presently on multivitamins for this.
is surgery the only remedy for this or are there any other treatment..
regards
