Evening all,

Ive been informed that unless I take part in a clinical trial that I will not be able to have a PET/CT following treatment. This is because the PCT will not pay for it as there is insufficient evidence that it is useful.

Any comments my friends ?

Hi
in the USA PET scans seem to be done routinely, but in the UK that is not the case.If i remember correctly Dave was told he and Sue would have to pay privately for one.
The benefits of having a PET scan in the first few weeks after treatment are also highly dubious as there is a lot of post radiation false positive problems.Perhaps it is something you shouldnt be worrying about at this stage.

Hi Liz,

I think it was the fact that I felt as though I was becoming pressurised into joining a "study" otherwise I would not be eligible to get this public scan.

Cheers
