I was at the doctors a while back, and as I went into his office a nurse was leaving and overheard the doctors opening comment to me which was - 'You've lost weight'. The nurse congratulated me and asked how I had managed it. I'm normally quite considerate of peoples feelings, but I thought a professional should have been more aware, so I gave it to her straight - 'I've had Cancer'. I may have a warped sense of humour but it made me giggle.

I think my reaction shows that I have come a long way, a few months before I would probably have not said anything, but brooded over it for weeks afterwards.

Hi Jenni, I had the same reaction at work, I was repeatedly asked how I stay so slim. One day I just cracked and replied 'Cancer but I don't recommend it!'
I'm now over 9 stone and I've got a 'muffin'! So nobody asks me that question any more!!
Take care and keep laughing at the uninitiated!

Haha - I can relate to that warped sense of humour too Big Grin there's 20 kg difference in my weight between then and now, so it does show, just a little!

However I normally say that I had radiation therapy, but there are less drastic ways of achieving the same result

I had similar experiences during radiotherapy, which I was having in December 06, I lost count of the number of times people said to me “you have got a nice tan bet you have been somewhere nice” yes I always said I have been to the hospital, I am having radiotherapy, a great conversation stopper. Even on one occasion I was taken back into hospital due to complications and the nurses where asking where I had been !!!!!!
