well thanks to the doctor i have found the right place to introduce myself my name is nathan john joerndt i live here in pontiac Illinois and i am looking for someone who is a laryngetomee as a friend i know a lady who uses a artificial larynx to speak and i know a man on youtube who speaks with a artificial larynx as well . please make me feel welcome here oh! and no i'm not a laryngetomee but i would like to make some new friends here! and i'm 24 years old and i don't care how old you are as long as we become friends please help me make some new friends around here and i'll be waiting to hear from all of you verry verry soon! oh and please tell me if you use a artificial larynx to speak . thank you!

i am not a laryngetomee but just wanted to welcome you to the site.my cancer was at the base of my tongue but it didn't need surgery.hopefully something will come along and be able to help you and i hope you find some friends on here,they are a very supportive lot on here,best wishes shirley

well to introduce my self i was diagnosed with tongue base cancer early jan this year to say it was a shock was an understatement.i din't fare too well with the chemo and radiotheraphy but i am in remission so far.i see a speech therapist i find talking hard first thing in the morning its like my voice is frozen.i cant eat and have an n.n tube which will be replaced soon with a peg.not so noticiable fed up of folks staring at me.i wouldn't have got through this journey so well without my fantastic supportive husband.he has been a real gem.what about you do you have someone?take care nathan love shirl xxx

as amatter of fact i do! i know an older lady who uses a servox digital to speak she uses it on the side of her neck to speak! i was scared at first i didn't know what a laryngetomee was ! then i got to know her a whole lot better! her name is marry! nice older lady! you see io waork at a wal-mart store here in town i love doing my job and helping the disabled specially those who don't have a voice and use a speech device as a artificial larynx to speak! oh plus i am a non smoker witch is really good hey i want you to check something out go to www.youtube.com and type in the words speaking without vocal cords! it has a video of a man using a artiufical larynx to speak you can hear him but you can't see him! i know to alot of people it might sound scary at first! but i for one get used to it! i know what a artificial larynx sounds like oh hey speaking of the artifical larynx have you heard of the trutone artificial larynx? it's not a ordanary artificial larynx it's the artificial larynx that makes the voice sound natural!!!!!!!!! i seen a video clip once and it amazes me how he uses it hands free even!!!!! well i am happy to know you! and i think that you and i will get along just fine take care! be well! and most inportantly BE SAFE! no matter what you do BE SAFE! your'e friend nathan
