Has your Dad ever been able to eat by mouth? Or has any complications called fistulas. That is what Jerry my husband is fighting right now. He also has a bad ear pain that he went for a cat scan today to make sure that there was not another tumour growing.

We are scared, enough is enought.

i am kinda lost with the word...fisula?...he didn't eat for 3 monthes..enough to barely keep him alive. they tried a feeding tube..but stomach wall was too thick..(worry again)..but they figured it was from years of acid reflux. he has a stoma..(neck)...and uses a "what we refer to as a talkie"..electronic voice. He just this year got a new one after 29 years....
He has a problem with liquids...they tend to "come out his nose"...they said if this persists...that he can be fitted with a piece that closes off the area when he eats/drinks. I did read up a little on fisula..and seems to be an area reconnected somewhere....not sure how this factors in to it all...
I can only imagine your thoughts..as i have been through many.. i pray for you terry...do u have yahoo messenger..or msn?...would love to chat sometime.

Hi Patti,
Jerry has been on the feeding tube by stomach since January. He had another surger on Thursday to see if they could close this fistula by taking a skin graft from his leg. We will not know if it worked until it heals.

He was talking with his electronic device until the fistula took over. Now he is back to pen and paper. He is very discouraged about this.

Also just wants to beable to eat and drink again by mouth.
