I am writing hoping that someone will be able to give me some advice.
Martyns had surgery in may for a laryngectomee and has dealt with around 4 leaks.
The first 2 he had they put him back on NG feeds for a few weeks, the last 2 they have treated them with silver nitrate. They have healed but I was wondering is this normal to have leaks 3 months afer surgery. He is now back working as a long distance lorry and is coping well, he gets tired more easily but after reading previous posts this seems to be normal. I have also found that since surgery in may he seems to be depressed,he gets very down and having to cope with the the stoma and the way of having to adjust with the change in breathing and also cleaning the stoma and speech valve. Have others experienced this?

Hi Juliee,
I hope it doesn't seem obvious but maybe Martyn should see his GP about getting some antidepressants. They certainly help me and without side effects either. (Only a slight one)

good luck to you and Martyn
cheers Tony K
