I booked to go to India early Nov at a cost of £600, Had to cancel as was too stressed after friend died in Sept (had to arrange everything and sort out all his private affairs)then my partner died in Oct.
I wrote to the insurance company INSURE AND GO
(go the hell it seems)but even with a letter from my GP Dr Bloor they said it was stressed related and would not pay me.
I wrote back and said "well yes I am stressed out would you not be in my situation?

any sugesstion of how I can try to get my money back apreciated its alot of money to me and cannot aford holiday now for some time.

Paul

Hi Paul,
Spoke to my partner, who works in insurance (don't hate me*lol*). He said if you put in your claim for a refund stating "circumstances beyond my control" as your reason (rather than stress), you may have more luck getting your money back. He said that loss of a loved one is often covered in there.
He also said that if you could PM me the policy wording he'll take a look.
Hope that helps,
Michelle

Ok,
My partner says you should follow the formal complaint procedure, in writing, accurately. They HAVE to respond to that within 5 working days under FSA regulation.
If you're unsatisfied your response you should then forward the complaint to the director and then if you are STILL unsatisfied you can then approach the financial ombudsman service as stated in your policy wording.
He said that the policies he delt with would allow cancellation cover for "reasons beyond your control" although, were these pre-exsisting conditions already excluded or even not disclosed? as this may effect the cancellation cover, as you can appreciate there are many insurance companies whom have different wordings/exclusions/limitations so without your specific policy schedule and wording he cannot give a truly accurate response.

Reviewing the "Bronze cover" policy wording online. If you click HERE and go to page 9, section 2 under cancellation cover it does note the death of a relative as covered up to £1000.
You should quote this on your letter.
If you do find the exact wording for your original policy then just PM me with it.
Good luck Paul!
Michelle
