Wendy Sloane is a health journalist who writes a weekly column called My Operation for Woman's Own Magazine.

Wendy has emailed me saying that she is interested in writing an article about a woman, aged roughly 25-45 (the age of the magazine's target readers) to interview for a story about mouth cancer, to tie in with Mouth Cancer Week. Ideally, Wendy would like to find someone who has had surgery after finding she had cancer. The interview would be by telephone and would take about half an hour, and she would need a photo for publication.

I think that the article would be a good way of increasing awareness of mouth cancers. If anyone is interested in helping out by using their story to help promote mouth cancer awareness (and the Mouth Cancer Foundation), please contact Wendy (wendy.utah@tiscali.co.uk) to see if your story would help. Please let me know (media@mouthcancerfoundation.org) if you wish to have her telephone number to speak to her about it.

I expect that the magazine would pay a fee for your time and trouble. As some times the story doesn't come out the way you wish, it is good sense to ask to see a draft copy of what is written for your approval first.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

I read this message a week ago and think I may know of a lady who may help you here. She works in radiology and had mouth cancer resulting the resection of her mandible leaving a large scar.
I hope to speak with her either later today or early next week as I am looking for her support in a fundraising evening.
