Dear All

The Health Secretary, Patricia Hewitt is taking part in an online web chat today about the future of the UK's public services. It will take place on the 10 Downing Street website on Thursday 8 February, from 10.45am GMT, and will last for about an hour

These are the questions I have submitted to the Health Secretary for her web chat tomorrow. Though I will be in clinic tomorrow morning, I would be interested to know of her awareness of the issues facing mouth cancer patients, that is if my question gets asked.

  • Is the Health Secretary aware of the daunting physical, psychological and practical issues faced by mouth cancer patients?

  • Does the Health secretary think that these patients should be subject to the additional trauma of a post code lottery for the first first treatment in over 40 years that significantly improves patient survival and control of the disease without significantly increasing the debilitating side-effects seen with chemoradiotherapy?
