Hello All,

Many of you will probably not recognise my name on the discussion board. I do not post frequently despite this The Mouth Cancer Foundation website and members have helped me considerably along my cancer journey.
A feature regarding my journey is due to be published in the Sunday Mirror. I hope the feature will raise awareness of Head and Neck Cancers and The Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Best Wishes to you all
Melanie x

Hi Melanie
I believe we may have met earlier this year at the Macmillan Survivorship event. How are you doing?

I will certainly buy The Sunday Mirror this week. It is great when somebody does something like this to raise awareness!

Best wishes
Gwyn

Hi Melanie,

I have just read the article and I thought it was really well done. You look absolutely fantastic, I can't believe you've had such major surgery and Aiyana is gorgeous, what a beautiful little girl.

You really are an inspiration.

Hi Melanie

A really good article. You come over as so brave and matter of fact. And, as Lorraine said, your daughter is a beautiful little girl.

A great awareness-raiser!

Well done.

Love
Gwyn

Melanie,

I was able to putz around with the Picasa link to the article so that I could read it - at first the print was too small and when I enlarged it, it became fuzzy. Put it into another program I have (irfanview.com - free download) and it's readable.

I was blinking back tears reading the article and seeing the picture of your adorable daughter. She has a smile big enough for both of you! You are so young to have gone through such an ordeal - that should be reserved for old folks like me. I know life isn't fair, but dammit! Life isn't fair!

Best of luck with your future surgery, your education and raising your daughter. You're such a strong young woman with amazing coping skills - so many can learn from you.

Take care,
Mimi

You and your daughter look fatastic! She's such a cutie.
Strange reading about yourself isn't it? Were they very acurate with it?
Well done you!

Mimi,

I thought the font may have been a little small glad you worked out how to enlarge it.

You are right life does not always hand us fair cards. The cards I have been dealt so far I have to live with so it is in my best interest to make the most of the good and appreciate life. Although I do find the bad aspects really challenging but they make me who I am today.

Aiyana does have a big enough smile for the both of us. I can honestly say that I always laugh when she laughs her smile is truly infectious. Thank you for your best wishes I appreciate your support.

Hi Chelle,

Thanks,
Reading my life captured in one page along with the images published was overwhelming.

I was very pleased that the article was so honest a true reflection of my life before diagnosis during and after. Although no article or person will ever really know the struggle of my journey the article captured a summary. Hopefully this will raise the profile of Mouth Cancer.

Best Wishes to you all

Melanie x
