Benefits campaign for Cancer patients
A 'Better Deal' campaign has been launched by Macmillan cancer relief to help people with cancer claim all the relevant benefits they need. Macmillan chief executive Peter Cardy said: "It is unacceptable that cancer patients should suffer the huge problem of debt, poverty or financial hardship at a time when they are most vulnerable, especially when help is available if only they knew about it." There is a free guide Help with the Cost of Cancer details all the benefits that can be claimed. It lists the help available to patients with cancer. You can download the 40 page (1.8MB) pdf document here. "Patients with mouth cancer, in particular, experience huge problems caused by difficulties with speech, feeding and appearance that result in loss of employment causing financial hardship. This is aggravated by difficulties in claiming benefit. The Mouth Cancer Foundation welcomes this initiative by Macmillan cancer relief."
