Benefits campaign for Cancer patients

A 'Better Deal' campaign has been launched by Macmillan cancer relief to help people with cancer claim all the relevant benefits they need.Yes

Macmillan chief executive Peter Cardy said: "It is unacceptable that cancer patients should suffer the huge problem of debt, poverty or financial hardship at a time when they are most vulnerable, especially when help is available if only they knew about it."

There is a free guide Help with the Cost of Cancer details all the benefits that can be claimed. It lists the help available to patients with cancer. You can download the 40 page (1.8MB) pdf document here.

"Patients with mouth cancer, in particular, experience huge problems caused by difficulties with speech, feeding and appearance that result in loss of employment causing financial hardship. This is aggravated by difficulties in claiming benefit. The Mouth Cancer Foundation welcomes this initiative by Macmillan cancer relief."

Best wishes

SmilerHi I feel like telling them to sod off, there are many people who claim and get away with it, I know a guy who lives in Cape town and has a two bed flat in Kensington,( this should go to a real needy handicapped person) which he sub lets, he claims for everything, he has had 5 artifial legs at £5000 a throw, I have to fight to get one pair of orthopedic shoes for my disabled son every two years. I am not prepared to declare my savings, I have worked very hard to buy my own place, and I won't crawl to those bureacratic nurds.
