Hello Sue and Dave, I'm not sure just what you are able to eat but when I go away for the day I fill a 'large mouthed' thermos flask with soup and make up a scandishake. If you are able to chew you could take some bananas, avocados etc both are filling, full of goodness and easy to carry about.
That said, most places will serve soup or a soft meal (pasta etc) If you are like me and don't wish to eat in front of strangers, I fill a cool box with drinks, yogurts, milkshakes etc and take a flask for the hot stuff (I also have a thermos that plugs into the cigarette lighter of the car which I find very useful - you can buy them from camping shops) I have to say that going out now is more of an ordeal than when we had to pack up the car when the children were babies!!!! Where there's a will..............Enjoy!

hi Dave and Sue,
It is difficult to go out and eat in public, but as Brenda says soup is readily available in most places.
I still struggle with pasta so that's a no for me.
It was not til I had the cancer that I realised how much social life is about eating and drinking. My husband was off work all last year so people would say " great you can go out together and have meals out" no way!
I have found I can just about eat a baked potato with copious amounts of butter, sandwiches are still a no.
I am working now (driving instructor) but I shape my day so that I can come home and eat, otherwise I wouldn't bother to have anything.
Holidays are another story- I am off to Tenerife next week so I know I'll lose weight again because the restaurants are generally filled with steak and chips! I used to hate fish, soup and eggs but these days that is what I mainly eat.
By the way I discovered last week I can taste cinammon, fantastic! I have started making cinammon cakes which I eat with gallons of tea.
Finally I have got over 8 stone!

Hey guys!
Sorry it's me again!

I've eaten out a couple of times... & i skim over the menu eliminating 95% of the meals i cannot of have!
Went to a lovely gastro-pub with work collegues and for starter i had Saute garlic mushrooms - nice strong flavour, soft & easy to swallow. Had to give away the garlic bread though! For my main course i had sea food chowder which was fab cuz i could also use a spoon which saved the knife & fork embaressment!
When i'm out i avoid carbs - cuz they never come with enough sauce to swallow them down.
Salads are ok, & i'm just being able to tolerate dressings. Sausage, mash & extra gravey is good. Pie, mash & extra gravey is ok. Fish & sauce. Just make sure you have water to hand. Often i'll take a mouthful & follow it with a sip of water. Then ontinue to chew - using the water as substitute saliva.
Holding on to the weight is tricky! I've felt so bloated with my periods coming back this week that i've lost my appatite & haven't been dunking my jaffa cakes every day! Believe it or not, 4 jaffa cakes is all that stand between me maintaining my weight & me loosing weight!

If there's anything else i try i'll let you know!
Take care guys!

Paul, some days i can't taste salt in my food AT ALL. Other days, like you, i may as well be drinking salt water.
i find the lack of saliva a problem with alot of white sauces as they tend to just ciat my mouth. Unless i add something to thin them a bit. Been adding a little milk to my cream & white wine sauce. & adding milk to my carbonara sauce helps too.
