Derek once told me that he found chewing gum helped with his dry mouth but that the xylitol chewing gum from USA had been difficult to obtain in the UK and was expensive. Xylitol-based chewing gums (e.g. BioXtra chewing gum) are recommended as they have been shown to be effective in reducing tooth decay.

I came across a packet of chewing gum containing baking soda & carbamide sweetened with xylitol that might do the trick for less! It costs 49pence for 35 pieces and is available in your local ALDI store! .

Try the gum and see if it helps. Remember, don't chew more than 10 minutes or so, otherwise you can cause yourself a jaw ache!
