Last couple of days have begun feeling very tired and mouth is drying up. Face also quite sore. All to be expected but feel a bit depressed as I've only had 8 treatments and still 22 to go.

Hi Maggie, I know how you feel (I've been there) but just take each day at a time. Keep slapping on the aqueous cream it really works. Treat yourself to a new lippy, get a couple of good books or trashy mags and put your feet up. Think of the treatment as a course you have to go on to further your job and whilst its boring and tiring and inconvenient it will all be worth it in the end.
If I can help feel free to e-mail me direct sr_platt@hotmail.com
Kind regards Sue

Hi Maggie

I have just finished my radiotherapy, and I know exactly how you are feeling, tired, sore and depressed as each and everyone of us felt the same, but please remember it is worth it if it kills off those cancer cells!
You may not believe it just now but the six weeks does go very quickly and if the hospital staff are anything like mine they will take great care of you and please if you have any worries about anything even if you think it is trivial speak to them, they will help. Also speak to us as we have all been there and can reassure you that what you are feeling is normal.

All my love
Tracey

Maggie Towers,

Oh, what memories of my own early treatment days your post brings back.

The only advice I can offer is that you adopt the positive attitude (if not there already), as that shown by Tracey and others.

In time you will see that light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there!

Regards, Fridge

Thanks everyone for your messages. It's good to hear from others wh've gone through this. I've had a bad few days but am determined to get back into fighting mode! It's the first time I've been really down since I got diagnosed and up till now everyone has been amazed at how cheerful and positive I've been. I know everyone says the six weeks go quicker than you think but it depresses me that I'm not half way through yet (today was day 13) and today the pain was so bad the doctor said I should start taking oromorph. Eating is a painful and dispiriting business and all I've managed today are the scandishakes the dietician gave me.
I agree with you, Tracey, that the hospital staff are very caring and helpful; the trouble is that they're so kind that at the moment I turn weepy whenever I speak to them! Sorry to sound such a misery; I know some of you folks have been through far worse than me and what matters is beating this cancer for good!
Best wishes to all.
