following surgery and radiotherapy the lymph is not moving in the normal fashion and has created a large collar around the neck which is stifling me. Has anyone had similar problem and / or have any good ideas on what to do apart from massages ?

Thank you so much for such a quick response. The real difficulty occurs during the night when I swell up around the neck and often have trouble in breathing which scares us a lot (my wife and I!) Is there anything to do like a warm bandage with Vicks ?
Thank you again for your help to me and everyone else
Best regards Pepper

I guess elevating the head with a couple of pillows will help.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi
One thing that helped when my husband had this problem was a v shaped pillow on top of normal pillows, he had about 6 or 7 but built up so he could sleep sort of sitting up

Hi I agree with Jennifer, lots of pillows. I placed them in the shape of a chair so you are practically sitting up. It helps the fluid disperse. I know that awful feeling of choking through the night, it is very scary. Massage and gentle neck exercises did help me (plus deep breathing when I got too panicky!) Here's to a good night's sleep.
