HI All,

Been busy recently, was sick and have an elderly friend hospitalised so have not been posting recently but reading the topics.

Maggie's treatment started on Wednesday she will have 20 courses of radiotherapy the last being on January 16th. We have been warned that hospital admission may be required in later stages of treatment so that Maggie may be fed intravenously.

Her pain is escalating and her pain management increased accordingly, the cancer has been confirmed as Squamish (WsP) Cell, in the neck right side and base of tongue also right side; but Maggie did not ask for a prognosis nor the stage details. She has only the one treatment option of radiotherapy so if that does not work??????????

She remains positive but the pain is naturally getting to her and as the Radiotherapy Consultant warned it will get much worse before it gets better.

Maggie has been told, not asked, to quit smoking but can't: she knows the consequences; however there is likely to come a time when she may be too ill to bother!

Her birthday is on the 7th January (60 - no age here) and we are hoping that we will get the holidays and the birthday over before the treatment begins to take a significant toll on her strength and well being.

Again I thank you all for your concern and prayers and wish you all a very happy Christmas and an uneventful New Year, you all take care now,

With love to all, Alan

Hi Alan
Found this post after I had left a message on another thread.
Thinking of you both in these tough, tough times. All can be conquered as we read here each day, so onwards and upwards!
Deborah
PS I remember you talking about your dear old dog/s (?) ages ago before you went off on hols and I think you were going to show us a picture, but alas! Anyway, Trevor has posted a pic of our girls, Pearl (black pug) who is the mother of Precious ~ should be Precocious, really. I realise there are some very shallow people out there who can't see their true beauty however I know they are both gorgeous!

Oh Alan - it really does seem like a doubly unfair blow for you and Maggie to have to face this dreadful disease all over again.

I don't know what to say really, just that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
