Hi Melissa

Weird as it may be - they've done their bit and now it's up to you and nature to do your bit. However, they will be willing to see you if you feel it's necessary - I know I returned to the hospital in the weeks after my treatment for consultation - I hadn't found this forum at the time!

Hang in there

Pete

Hi Melissa,
well done for getting through the daily grind of radiotherapy. Like you I felt so pleased that it was over and disappointed that you carry on feeling the same or worse for up to a month after.
Each hospital/ area/ country are so different with their aftercare. I was lucky I had weekly appointments on a Monday with my oncologist and also weekly on a Wednesday with my surgeon plus the ability to phone the department any time.
If you do feel a bit lost please contact the relevant dept for you and I am sure they will be sympathetic to your worries.
Keep smiling!
Anne

Hi Melissa
Sorry I didn't spot your post earlier. I finished a 6-week course of daily radiotherapy in November. Happy to report that 3 months later it is a fairly distant memory, the only side effect left is the dry mouth & discoloured skin where it broke down.
Recovery signs from R/T came in on the third week & were quite rapid from week 4 onwards. Best thing I can remeber was drinking cold milk with most things I tried eating, a habit that has stayed with me to some extent as I'm still trying to regain weight.

well, just like everyone said these weeks are the worst as far as the mouth sores. Tomorrow is my last day of going to the radiation though. I've stocked up on movies and plan to spend the next week laying around. The doctor says to keep in touch over email and if I need to come in for fluids, etc I can.
From here it's hard to feel like I will ever be normal again but I know I will.(or at least be a normal person with dry mouth)!
