I have been cleared to figure out how to get eating food again. Trouble is, I have no lower teeth. Since I had the grafting to the floor of my mouth, implants don't sound good, and since my jaw bone isn't that great, false teeth don't sound that great. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks Phil

Hello Philip

Our John Spencer has a similar situation to yours, and managesto eat most things without his lower teeth. Speak to him.

Best wishes

Good Morning Philip,
Dr. Joshi is quite right I do manage to eat most things. You, like I, will have to accept that things are different we can not chew food in the normal way so we have to develop new techniques.A large part of my lower jaw was removed and rebuilt with a metal plate and bits and pieces from my left arm,it doesn't look too bad but it is non functional because I have no lower teeth.I do have an upper dental plate so I use my tongue as a subtitute lower jaw, after first cutting the food into quite small pieces. However unlikely this sounds I make it work.I had a steak yesterday and there is a splendid looking pork pie for lunch which I am looking forward to so take heart Philip you will get there. At first Indian food was like eating glowing coals and red wine was like a glass of liquid lightning but I have always enjoyed both so I persevered. Now that the new tissue inside my mouth has become accustomed to my riotous choice of menu it accepts most things---it has to.
I had difficulty with salad, even though it was chopped fine,it tended to choke me so I tried a salad sandwich and the bread changed the texture so I was able to cope.A large dollop of thousand island or blue cheese dressing also modifies the texture.
If you want to ask anything please feel free we all get a lot out of helping each other.
Keep Smiling Razzer
John
