Sadly Deb Robs brother has taken his loss so badly,we feared for him,and he has not been good at keeping in touch. When i went down for Robs birthday we spent a lot of time together and his wife said he was much better when i lef,but i havent heard from him since, and he didnt even ring to say goodbye. So no i cant get in touch with him ,but it was kind of you to offer.
Rob was his baby brother and as children Paul always looked out for him when his big mouth got him in to more trouble than he could manage, but Paul keeps everything locked inside and is hard to reach,i hope his trip helps him start to heal, just as i hope mine will help me. The countryside on Macleods daughters is noticably less green than it used to be,and they mention the drought all the tine, but it always makes me laugh that they are always wearing coats. It looks so hot!!! Will you be doing the full christmas dinner,or is it barbecue outside? Whatever it is i am sure Trevor will give it his best shot. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BOTH. LOVE LIZ Love liz Never take your eye off the ball it may just smack you in the mouth |

Hello Liz
That's very sad to hear about Rob's brother. Like you said, hopefully the trip will help him get onto the road to recovery and likewise for you. Grief is such an awful journey and of course being your first Christmas will put up some challenges for you. Be sure to have the kind of break away from everything that you and Robin would've talked about for ages as being 'THE best Christmas, ever'. The coats they wear on McLeods are probably 'Drysabone' (as in, dry as a bone). All the cocky's (farmers) wear them, typically Aussie country wear, I guess. Mind you, no-one in their right mind would be wearing one at this time of year, even if we got rain! It has been so disgustingly hot already and we have only just gone into summer last weekend. We had about 3 weeks with temps over 30 but the last couple of days have been beautiful ~ low to mid 20's. Ahhhhhhh bliss. Bush fires have been an issue already this summer too. Some deliberately lit, others lightning strikes. Adelaide has been thick with smoke and smoke haze from fires that have been burning for a few days on Kangaroo Island which is just off the coast of South Australia. Awful for those battling the fires and those battling to save homes etc. It's funny, Trevor used to always be comfortable with the weather, shorts in winter, that kind of thing but he has changed so much since his treatment. He gets really cold now and tonight on our way home from friends, we had to crank the air con in the car up to 29 degrees to thaw him out. Very strange! We never do the full on Christmas dinner ~ always way too hot (although lots of people toil away with all the trimmings regardless of the heat ~ stupid in my opinion). We will just have a delicious breakfast of fruit, bacon, eggs, hash browns, little sausages, delicious tomatoes (fresh from Dad's garden. Mmmmmmmm), baked beans, toast and mushrooms. All washed down with some champers and orange. One thing is for sure, Trevor will pick his way through anything and everything he can manage to get down! When do you head off on your hol? If we don't catch up before you go, try to have a safe, happy and loving Christmas Liz. We will definitely be thinking of you. Love Deborah |

Deborah,
You have baked beans in Australia? Great relief to hear your good news Liz. Hope you have as good a Christmas as is possible. I know Robin will obviously be on your mind a lot but I'm sure he wouldn't want you to be sad. Will be thinking of you. Take care. Lorraine |

Well Debs, sounds like christmas at yours next year!!!I would so love to see your beautiful country, but travelling alone doesn't really appeal to me,so i will have to content myself with living the dream through all the many hours i spend glued to the telly watching the adventures of the beautiful people of "Drovers and Killarney"
One question Debs, Are the men really that gorgeous? lol love liz Love liz Never take your eye off the ball it may just smack you in the mouth |

Hi Lorraine
I had to chuckle at your question. Are you serious? Are there places in this world that don't have baked beans ~ health food of a nation! Deborah |

No worries, Liz ~ just let us know what time your flight is due in and we'll be down to pick you up.
Which men are you talking about? At first I thought you meant were they all as gorgeous as Trevor, but I suspect you didnt' mean that at all and were actually asking about the men of Drover's Run. As I've said, I've never seen one episode of McLeods. I have spoken to Aaron Jeffery though. Mind you I didn't know who he was and was busy asking him about his dog and patting her. He didn't have much to say ~ maybe not used to the dog getting more attention than him! When Trevor was driving cabs a few years ago, he used to pick up and drop off the cast members out at the homestead, take them down to the city (Adelaide) and so on. Aaron was a regular passenger since he actually had a house here in town. His marriage broke up and he has since left and gone over to Sydney I believe. Love Deborah |
