Neck Dissection SwellingGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Hi all, My Dad had a bilateral ND on March 13. Most of the swelling went down by about 2 weeks post surgery. Now he seems to have more swelling. The surgeon says don't worry about it. Usually it swells in the morning and goes down by mid day or night. This time it seems to be staying swollen. Anyone else have this? and at what point does the swelling go down? Thank you, LisaBThis message has been edited. Last edited by: LisaB Canada,

Hello LisaB You might find some of the previous postings on neck swellings of interest as the oedema is a common problem. It improves but sometimes never resolves completely. Hi and thank you for the info. Ok so it sounds like a common thing; makes us feel a bit better. How do we know the differance between normal sweling vs swelling caused by infection or blockage? Thanks! LisaBThis message has been edited. Last edited by: LisaB Canada,

Hello Lisa Have a read through these past posts on neck tightness and massage. You will find some advice there. Hope that helps. Thanks Dr Joshi, yes I've read them. We saw the surgeon and he said the swelling is normal and that people who have had chemo tend to swell more. Well since then it's been going up and down and up and down. Thanks
