hi folks any one got any experiences with the use of gabapentin in pain management, Maurice, you mentioned Garbapentin, must be the same stuff? My husband John is still battling on, three teeth were removed on the 29th July, currently taking big doses of antibiotics, but we've given up with the flagyl as it made him vomit. Still no relief from severe pain around the jaw, well thats not quite true, he's OK when he's asleep/dopey. Our MacMillan nurse recommends admission to a hospice for a while to try different drugs, which include gabapentin and amitryptylline. I say its got to be worth a try, there must be something better than the current regime, but if anyone has anything that'll make it easier to persuade him to give it a go, then I'd be grateful if you'd share it. thanks folks, I know I've been silent for a while, things have been very difficult, I have been 'lurking' - just too freaked to offer anything. This site is a strange sort of beacon, your comments and opinions make a difference to an untold number of people. thanks Look Well to This Day | |||

Hi Jenbee Gabapentin is used by our neurologists for facial pains. It appears to have a use for chronic 'nerve' pains (neuropathic). Cancer pain is often undertreated. You will find much useful information on pain management in cancer at OncologyChannel and this information on Treatments will help you get what John needs. I am sure our folks will share their own experiences to help John.
