Hi david and Susan,
I hope this finds you doing well. My wife was diagnosed 2 years ago with T4 N2 M0 base of tongue adenocarsinoma, she completed 33 IMRT treatments and 2 treatments of cisplatin chemo june 23, 2007. She is a little over a year out from treatments with no signs of the cancer anywhere. She had still been suffering from dry mouth when a nurse at Emory suggested that she see the head of the radiology department about doing accupuncture treatments on her. I was a bit put back, because it was the same kind doctor who had originally designed her radiation treatment program. We set up an appointment with him and he explained how he was in the navy years before and was forced to send some patients of his for this type of treatment, and how he resented it because it was an admiral making him do it. He said his mind was closed to such non sence until he actually had seen the results of the treatments on his patients who were suffering from very bad issues with dry mouth. SO as of to date my wife has finished 2 treatments and swears to me that she now has enough spit to spit on someone if she wanted Smiler.
Needless to say she would never, but I am very happy none the less. Before this she had been having some success using virgin olive oil, but she tells me she is no longer even using that, I hope this helps you.
God bless

Hi Jcrossno

I have only just read your reply and I am very sorry for the delay in my replying to you.

I am interested in your comments about accupuncture, I am glad to hear that this treatment helped you wife and hope she is well. I would be very interested to know on which part of the body the treatment was carried out.

Regards

Dave

Hello

Acupuncture seems to have been helpful according to the experiences of some members. These past posts related to Acupuncture and Dry Mouth might be helpful.

Has anyone else found it helpful?

Best wishes
