Dear David ,i picked up a tip from someone on the oral cancer foundation site, and it works for Rob though i am afraid he is still very gunky at times his mouth is dry at night so i bought a plastic spray bottle from the chemist and filled it with water.Rob keeps this by the bed and when he wakes up with a dry mouth he "mists" all round the inside of his mouth and down his throat.Rob is still on fortisips by peg and is only managing to eat sporadically .To date his achievments are scrambled egg, soup and a boiled egg but as he didnt do his jaw exersises after his op,he also has a stiff jaw that hurts when he tries to chew anything of substance.
We are sorry to hear you feel down David but we all know down today up tomorrow and maybe down again the next day.Frustrating isnt it! Keep your pecker up Liz Love liz Never take your eye off the ball it may just smack you in the mouth |

My dry mouth is worse at night. I know you have the Orthana spray - if you wake in the night keep it next to your bed and have a goiod squirt!
I get frustrated at work, as the pet food is quite dusty so my mouth is constantly drying up! Half way through conversations with customers usually! My lip often gets stuck above my teeth *lol* So i've been drinking lots of water, and trying to hold a little resevoir of it in my mouth for as long as i can. Except friday - someone asked me a question and i forgot to swallow- so what i didn't breathe in and choked on, got dribbled down my chin or came out my nose! -~*Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds*~- ...Albert Einstein |

Hi Dave and Sue. They do quite a few different products and I found them quite good. Might not work so well for everyone but worth a try. I thought the gel was really good at night. All the best, Hagg.

The water spray is a good tip, wish I'd thgought of that when I was suffering.
I'm convinced that fresh air & excercise helps (when you are up to it). I'm now 6 months post R/T, dry mouth is still a slight feature - it always will be - but it is no longer a problem. Good luck with your recovery. |

I've been using a humidifier at night in the bedroom. It seems to help somewhat, but I still wake up with dry mouth.
I've been more frustrated with the eating problems. I expected more improvement at the 3 month point after treatment. The saliva thinned but still dry mouth. Now closer to 4 months, I am actually able to eat a little better. But I'm still drinking water all day long. The improvements come in such small increments. |
