ERBITUX, first mentioned by Dr Joshi in April this year has now been sanctioned for use by the Scottish Medicines Consortium. It will be given to patients undergoing Radiation therapy only. This is said to be the first new treatment for Mouth & Larynx cancers for 20 yrs!. An exciting new development.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation has been invited to attend the SMC Conference - Tuesday 23 September 2008 in Edinburgh. We would be interested in sponsoring any board member from Scotland who wished to be involved in patient advocacy for head and neck cancer patients in Scotland to represent MCF. One of the talks in the afternoon is "How to make a good patient interest group submission to SMC". Do have a look at the rest of the programme which appears to be of peripheral interest only.
