My father has undergone very agressive treatment for very progressive throat cancer. While he is making good progress, he was given no coucelling as to the aftermath, or about preventative measures to try to retain his teeth. He has done well to battle on, but his teeth have suffered terribly. He has now been told after already having 3 removed, he has to have a further 7 removed. It has set him back, and knocked his confidence, thinking that every step is a new battle. He had to retire early becuase of the cancer and doesnt have the money for private restoration work. I wondered if there were any dentists in the UK who offered a discounted rate for restoration work for Cancer patients? Also I am not confident that he is getting the right advice. I would really appreciate any advice that could be offered. The cancer has taken so much - his taste, love for food, saliva, having a trachy and he has put on such a brave face - Id just like to try to find him some help. All my dad wants for Christmas is some new front teeth! Many thanks & best wishes - Elaine-Rose

Good afternoon Elaine-Rose,
Your father should discuss the reconstructive process with the doctor at the hospital when he is there for his next check up and also with the Macmillan nurse, I think you will find that help is available. the regular dentist will charge top rate.
Keep smiling
John

Hi Elaine-Rose, I saw a restorative dentist after treatment. It was all sorted out by my consultant. Definately would be worth asking at the hospital, and I hope you get something sorted for your dad. Hagg.

12 years and still kicking it.
