Hello Friends,

It is with deep regret that I announce that my beloved wife Maggie passed away in the early hours of this morning 29th July 2008. I am glad to say that we were able to keep Maggie at home throughout her battle with base tongue carcinoma, fought by her with so much dignity: and that she has for the last 2 and 1/2 months been pain free and that this morning she passed away peacefully in her sleep in her own comfy recliner.

I ask for your prayers that Maggie's soul is welcomed in Heaven and that we; her family, are sustained by the Grace of God and His Son's Divine and eternal love as we begin our journey through the griefing process until that time when we can turn the stinging tears of immediate loss and consequent loneliness into tears of pleasure and thanksgiving for the love and joy which Maggie brought to our lives in her own inimatable way.

She is now at peace and in a better place where one day we shall again meet and divine love prevails where there is no jealousy or hate, anger or torment simply joy in the presence of our Lord and God who loves us for what we are - weak and helpless - but yet secure in the saving forgiving love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Maggie felt at times inadequate and unloveable, and we have all been there with her in our respective journies at some time through this mortal and flawed life of mankind: but she was loved and she loved and who can ask for more.

Cookey I join you in your grief as you remember the pain which you have suffered but remind you that life continues: the greatest tribute we can offer Robin and Maggie is to continue to live our own lives in confidence with the knowledge that they gave us respect and self esteem through their unfailing loyalty, love and affection despite their own failings which we forgave with easy hearts, because we were equally flawed and knew it.

Maggie and I have been constant companions for 40 years past April, and married on 4th November 1972 after a 4 year courtship. I am going to miss her and already the house feels eerily empty. The service of thanksgiving for her life at our Church (High Church Hilton) is followed by her Cremation on Tuesday 5th August (our youngest son's 31st birthday) and if you can find the time to offer a prayer for us around 12.30 your caring concern will be very much welcomed.

God bless all who have suffered the agony of cancer and the bitterness of loss, I pray this in my Lord and Saviour Jesus' name and authority,

Amen,

Your friend Alan aka Dancingwithroses

Alan,

It is a blessing that Maggie passed so peacefully and the way we all hope to go.

We will definitely give Maggie, yourself and your family a moment in our thoughts on the 5th of August.

With love

Alan,

You and Maggie are indeed in my thoughts and will be on the 5th.

I will ask my mum to remember you all in her prayers at church on Sunday.

As I said in the other thread, whoever would have thought, one year on from Liz's grief that we would be here with you.

sounds like you helped her last days to be very comfortable. I'm sure she felt loved and appreciated by your care. I'm sorry for your loss. It must feel very uncomfortable after being together so long. I will pray.

Alan,

You and Maggie will be in my thoughts and prayers. As you say, she is in a better place and if eternity means a place without time she already has you and your family with her.

God bless you, Alan - I know you will be sustained by your faith and the love of your family.

Love

So very sad to hear of your loss. I know your faith and your family will help you through this difficult time. Like some of the others on here I don't post very often as I think some of the newly diagnosed members need the support more. But I follow everyone's journey and have been so well supported I feel like we are all friends even if we have never met. My thoughts are with you. Take care. Sheila

Dear Alan

I am sorry about your loss. No matter how much we prepare for the moment of loss, we never can. I hope your faith will lend you the strength in facing a future without Maggie and that time will make the loss less sharp.

I will be thinking of Maggie on Tuesday and will say a silent prayer for her.

Take care.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee
