I have been reading all your replies and am very touched at all the comments you have all written, Alan would be very touched and happy that you all liked his stories. Cass and myself have been telling Alans mum and dad of all your replies and it has brought them great comfort knowing Alan had so many friends. Thank you Angelaxx

Alan helped lots of people, including John, who also died too young (16th August 2004). My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, I hope that you like this:

You can shed tears because he is gone,
Or you may smile because he has lived;
You can close your eyes and yearn for his return,
Or you may open your eyes and value all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you cannot see him,
Or it may be full of the love that you shared;
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live only yesterday,
Or you may be content in your tomorrow because of his yesterday.

You can remember him, and only grieve that he has gone,
Or you may cherish his memory and let it live on;
You can close your mind and cry, be empty and turn your back,
Or would he have preferred that you should smile, be happy and sail on?

Look Well to This Day

HELLO EVERYONE. I JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR KIND WORDS. THEY HAVE TOUCHED US ALL AND MADE THINGS A BIT EASIER TO BEAR KNOWING THAT ALAN WAS ABLE TO BRING SO MUCH TO SO MANY PEOPLE. ALANS FUNERAL WAS YESTERDAY AND SOME OF YOUR MESSAGES WERE READ OUT AND BROUGHT A TEAR TO EVERYONES EYE.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
CASS

Jenbee your poem was lovely and has given me a different way of feeling for Alan than i was. hope you are ok.
As Cass said your words of sympathy were read out at the service for Alan, this brought great comfort to his mum, His mum and dad did Alan proud as the service to put him to rest was lovely, but the saddest event i have ever ever attended and never want to go to another one as long as i live.
Alan also told people to donate to the hospice that looked after him for the last few weeks of his precious life,people have done this so it will be going to the hospice where he was looked after.
His college results came through in which he was studying to be a nurse he passed with flying colours achieving grade A's, in which we are so proud to have known such a wonderful person.

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

Celtic Blessing.

I would like to say I met Alan on the Internet. We physically met twice in 2003. Once in Manchester and once in Leeds. I spoke to him constantly on the telephone. What always amazed me was his courage and bravery. He didn't let things get him down and often used to cheer me up! What did annoy me though when we met,was the way people would stare at him. I got angry about it but Alan never did. So the poor man had scars, so what? We all have scars of some sort, but it's just that they are not always visible though.
He was one of the greatest people I have ever met. I miss him very much, especially when we talked on the fone and he always said "Hiya trouble!" lol. His courage and bravery should be an example to us all.
My thoughts are extended to Angela and Ryan, and to Kaye, David, Cass and the rest of the family. We will never forget his courage and spirit.
