The interview with God
I dreamed I had an interview with God. “So you would like to interview me?” God asked. “If you have the time” I said. God smiled. “My time is eternity.” “What questions do you have in mind for me?” “What surprises you most about humankind?” God answered... “That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.” “That they lose their health to make money... and then lose their money to restore their health.” “That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.” "That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived.” God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while. And then I asked... “As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?” “To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.” “To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.” “To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.” “To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.” “To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.” “To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.” “To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.” “To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.” "Thank you for your time," I said humbly. "Is there anything else you would like your children to know?" God smiled and said, “Just know that I am here... always.” See the poem, "The interview with God" , animated. Dr Joshi,
Great posting. The most significant thing I've found about my cancer is the "enrichment" that is found in life going down this cancerous experience. thanks for moderating this site! est wishes bob (pembo) |

Dear Vinod,
Have not been in the best of forms and hence have had to cut down on the "Ammas", love and xxx. I find a lot of new faces and am glad the site is carrying on as well as ever - even though I post just once in a while!!! I liked the poem and decided to add one of my own. I am sure almost everyone has read this but no harm in going through it once again. Footprints One night I had a dream-- I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints, one belonged to me and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before me,I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,you would walk with me all the way, but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. "I don't understand why in times when I needed you most, you should leave me?" The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." Live on your beliefs and strength- and you will become immortal. |

Beautiful poem, Dr Joshi.. thank you for sharing....... interesting response from Bob as well... as just when we ask of God... what more can you send our way?, his plan is incredibly perfect as it has instilled a more faithful and prayful existence as we tolerate yet another of life's obstacles. (and, yes, Bob.. I am still eager to hear what qualifies your "kickersdad" status).. it's likely we have crossed paths in the past if indeed your son/daughter has a passion for soccer/futbol/football?.......... and, well, I am most happy to see my dear friend Ananth posting such a classic spiritual writing and would love to know that he has accepted God's amazing grace........God bless the good doctor for starting this wonderful thread...........
